ABUJA—MINISTER of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero has condemned the unprovoked attack on FCT Administration officials on enforcement duty in the Federal Capital City, Abuja.

Speaking yesterday in Abuja  when some hoodlums in Jabi District of the Federal Capital City attacked some officials of the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (VIO) who were on enforcement of traffic regulations, especially arresting those contravening the ban on the use of Commercial Motorcycles (Okada) within the city centre.

Senator Aliero who lamented that some hoodlums attacked the FCT Administration officials wounding one Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) and a Police personnel attached to the roving team, however, decried that few weeks ago some officials of the Abuja
Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) on official assignment were equally attacked leaving some of them wounded.

The Minister who described such actions as criminal, reiterated that the perpetrators would not be allowed to go scot-free as the law will surely catch up with them, adding that the FCT Administration would not sit back and fold its arms to see “some few undesirable elements take the laws into their hands by inflicting pains on innocent officials who are on their official duty.

“The VIO official had a deep cut on his head while the Police officer had dislocation on his arm but the perpetrators of this criminal act would be fished out by the Police and would be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others who may want to emulate this anti-social behaviour”.
