BENIN—Authorities of  University of Benin, UNIBEN, have identified 142 persons, alleged to be fake students and warned the affected persons to desist from parading themselves as students of the university.

The affected students are from the faculties of Social Sciences, Engineering, Management Sciences and Life Sciences.

Meanwhile, the authorities of the University, had raised alarm over the ravaging effect of gully erosion in the university and appealed to the Federal Government to urgently come to the aid of the university.

Vanguard observed that four buildings at the Senior Staff quarters had already caved-in while other buildings in the university and the neighbouring communities are being threatened.

The list of fake students was made public by Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Harris Osarenren. When contacted on the issue, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Osayuki Oshodin, said some of the students were arrested at the examination halls and had since been handed over to the police.
