Former Commissioner for Sports in Edo State, Brown Ebewele has stated that Team Nigeria will win medals at the on going London Olympics, only by miracles.

“Miracle can still happen. If we win any medal, it c\won’t be because we prepared well for the Games but because of miracles. We all know that we have never prepared for any major competition before. We only select athletes for sporting events. This is why the athletes fight for their monetary rewards only while in the games,” Ebelewe said.

He expressed worries over the concentration on Blessing Okagbare for medals in London.

“It is very sad story that all we are pinning on hopes on just one athlete, Blessing Okagbre. This is not good enough for a country of over 150 million people. All those in the Nigerian Olympic Committee keep telling Nigerians that our hope in the Olympics is in the long jump, 100m and 4×100m, my question for them is if Blessing gets injured in the course of the games, what will they do? It means our hope is dashed,” he added.
