A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos State, Olofa Adedokun, has expressed confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political prospects ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Adedokun, founder of the Tinubu Unity Forum, TUF, said the administration’s record in infrastructure, education financing and other sectors would be part of the issues discussed ahead of the election.
He cited investments in rail and road infrastructure, as well as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, as examples of government initiatives.
According to him, “Tinubu is a great leader and, to me, the Obafemi Awolowo of our time,” he said.
Adedokun also highlighted Tinubu’s political experience and network, saying they would be relevant to the 2027 election.
Speaking about opposition figures, he said former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, would have their own political strategies to pursue ahead of the election.
On the reported presidential ambition of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Adedokun said political calculations ahead of 2027 would include consideration of the various political interests across the South-West.
He urged APC leaders and supporters to focus on grassroots mobilisation ahead of the election.
“We don’t need jamborees; it is time for action. Let us mobilise voters and look for those with voter cards,” he said.
Adedokun, who said he had known Tinubu since his days at Mobil, disclosed that he founded TUF in 2022 to mobilise support for Tinubu’s 2023 presidential bid.
He also described Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, as an experienced politician and said he expected him to remain active in Lagos politics ahead of the 2027 elections.
