…Seeks Sustained Support

The Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) has commended Nigeria’s security agencies for the successful rescue of abducted pupils and teachers in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the operation as a significant milestone in the fight against kidnapping and banditry.

The group also applauded the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers linked to the incident, saying the development reflected the growing impact of intelligence-driven security operations.

In a statement signed by its Speaker, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, the Assembly specifically praised the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Ajayi Oluwatosin, for their roles in providing and coordinating intelligence that facilitated the successful rescue.

AYA said the collaboration between intelligence agencies and security personnel involved in the operation demonstrated improved coordination within the country’s security architecture.

The group also commended the Service Chiefs for their leadership, operational discipline and strategic direction, noting that the rescue mission was carried out without compromising the safety of the victims.

“The outcome in Orire is a testament to the renewed sense of purpose they have instilled across the services,” the statement said.

The Assembly paid tribute to the troops who participated in the operation, describing them as patriotic Nigerians making sacrifices to protect lives and property across the country.

It urged citizens to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies, stressing that community support and cooperation are essential to preventing criminal activities and improving response efforts.

AYA also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing what it described as the political will and enabling environment for security agencies to carry out the operation.

The group, however, urged the President to sustain support for the armed forces and other security agencies through improved funding, welfare and the provision of modern equipment to strengthen their operations.

Reaffirming its commitment to national unity, peace and security, the Arewa Youth Assembly congratulated all those involved in the successful rescue operation and prayed for the continued safety of security personnel across the country.
