Firm unveils Zibian Farms to boost food security

By Nnasom David

Hazibian International Limited has launched Zibian Farms, a new agribusiness initiative designed to merge real estate investment with commercial agriculture, creating a platform that enables landowners to generate income while contributing to Nigeria’s food security and economic growth.

The initiative introduces a model that allows individuals who purchase agricultural land through the company to immediately begin structured farming activities on their properties, transforming land ownership from a passive investment into a productive venture with long-term wealth creation potential.

The launch marks a significant departure from the traditional practice of acquiring land solely for appreciation, positioning every parcel as a productive asset capable of delivering both financial returns and agricultural output.

Nigeria possesses more than 70 million hectares of arable land, yet a substantial portion remains underutilized. With agriculture contributing about a quarter of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employing over one-third of the workforce, industry stakeholders have continued to advocate for innovative investment models capable of unlocking the sector’s vast potential.

Speaking on the initiative, Terah Melford, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hazibian International Limited, said the company’s vision extends beyond facilitating land ownership.

“Our vision has never been limited to helping people buy land. We are building an ecosystem where land ownership becomes productive ownership. Through Zibian Farms, our clients are not just investing in appreciating assets—they are investing in food production, economic empowerment and generational wealth. We want every acre purchased through Hazibian to become a catalyst for prosperity,” he said.

Unlike conventional real estate offerings, Zibian Farms combines land acquisition with a structured agricultural development framework that provides investors with professional guidance, technical support and practical farming opportunities, regardless of their previous experience in agriculture.

The initiative is expected to attract a diverse range of investors, including working professionals seeking alternative income streams, Nigerians in the diaspora looking to participate in the country’s agricultural sector, retirees interested in productive investments and families seeking sustainable wealth-building opportunities.

As Nigeria intensifies efforts to diversify its economy beyond oil, agriculture continues to emerge as one of the country’s most strategic growth sectors. Rising food demand, rapid urbanisation and increasing emphasis on domestic production have heightened the need for private-sector initiatives capable of strengthening agricultural productivity.

According to Hazibian International, Zibian Farms was developed as more than a farming project. The company says the platform is designed to address three critical national priorities—increasing food production, creating employment opportunities and expanding access to inclusive wealth creation.

“Our objective is simple,” Melford added. “We want to remove the barriers that discourage many people from entering agriculture. Whether you are a young entrepreneur, a civil servant, a business owner or someone in the diaspora, you should be able to own land and confidently begin your farming journey with professional guidance and a structured support system.”

Beyond creating investment opportunities, the initiative is expected to encourage productive land use, stimulate rural economic development, support farming communities and strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.

The launch also aligns with the Federal Government’s drive to improve food security, promote sustainable rural development and deepen private-sector participation in agriculture.

By integrating real estate with agribusiness, Hazibian International is positioning itself within two of Nigeria’s fastest-growing sectors, offering investors the dual benefits of secure land ownership and sustainable agricultural enterprise.

With the introduction of Zibian Farms, the company aims to build a nationwide network of landowners committed to productive investment, environmental sustainability and long-term national development.
