The 13th edition of the Lagos First Generation Heritage Colleges Association, LAFGHECA Intercollegiate Games was held at Ansar-Ud-Deen College, Isolo on Saturday, June 27, 2026. The annual multi-sport event brings together Lagos State’s legacy secondary schools established in or before 1960 to foster unity, healthy rivalry, and grassroots sports development.

Fourteen schools competed across track and field, chess, scrabble, and football. The historic institutions included King’s College, CMS Grammar School, Igbobi College, Ansar-Ud-Deen Girls’ High School, Ansar-Ud-Deen College, Methodist Girls’ High School, Methodist Boys’ High School, Queen’s College, St Finbarr’s College, Baptist Academy, among others.

In the female category, The Apostolic Church Grammar School, Ketu, clinched first place with 4 Gold, 1 Silver, and 1 Bronze. Queen’s College, Yaba, finished second with 3 Gold and 2 Bronze, while Federal Science and Technical College, Yaba, came third with 2 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze medals.

For the male category, Igbobi College, Yaba, won the championship with 4 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze. Federal Government College, Ijanikin, placed second with 3 Gold and 1 Bronze, while C.M.S. Grammar School finished third with 2 Gold and 4 Silver medals.

In his welcome address, LAFGHECA President and Principal of the host school, Mr. Olanrewaju Adebambo, noted that the games play a vital role in students’ physical and mental development. He emphasized that the tournament aims to discover young talents, preserve school legacies, promote sportsmanship, and teach discipline, resilience, and healthy competition—essential skills that will serve the students for a lifetime.

The event which was chaired by AVM (Dr) Sikiru Smith (Rtd), had in attendance Dr. Sola Labinjo – Member, Board of Governors of Ansar-Ud-Deen College, Isolo; Alhaji Kazeem A. Alaka – National President, Old Students of Ansar-Ud-Deen Grammar School, Surulere; Otunba Dele Olapeju of Ido Ani – Chairman, LAFGHECA Board of Trustees, Colonel Mustapha, principals, vice-principals and students.
