Youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South geopolitical zone have warned chief executives of federal agencies and contractors in the region to ensure that resources under their control are used strictly for their intended purposes.

In a statement signed by Prince Urhorho Koyoyo, Zonal Youth Leader of the APC South-South Zone, the group said they are closely monitoring the activities of these agencies and contractors.

The youths specifically called for transparency in the management of funds from agencies such as the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), and the South South Development Commission (SSDC).

They also urged that pipeline surveillance contracts awarded by the federal government be used solely for the protection of national assets and the empowerment of youths in the region.

The statement read in part:

“We demand complete transparency in the allocation and utilisation of these funds for the overall development of the region.”

The group emphasised the need for the resources of the Niger Delta to be channelled towards genuine development, infrastructure, youth empowerment, and stability in the region.

They further called on the Presidency and relevant anti-graft agencies to ensure proper oversight of the agencies and contractors operating in the South-South.

The youths pledged to continue supporting the APC-led federal government while advocating for the proper utilisation of resources meant for the development of the region.
