An ally of former Imo State Governor, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, Mr. Obinna Ndukwe, has argued that continuity in governance should remain a key consideration in discussions about the future leadership of the state.

In a statement titled “Why Hope Uzodimma’s Success Story Strengthens the Case for Ohakim,” Ndukwe said preserving and building on existing development initiatives is important for sustained progress.

He commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for ongoing infrastructure and development projects in the state, noting that continuity in policy implementation can help maintain momentum in governance.

According to Ndukwe, development is a cumulative process that requires successive administrations to build on the achievements of their predecessors.

“History teaches us that progress can be reversed as quickly as it is achieved. Projects can be abandoned, policies dismantled and institutions weakened,” he said.

He argued that continuity in governance should be viewed as commitment to a development vision rather than support for any particular individual.

Ndukwe said Ohakim’s experience in public service and governance positions him as a leader capable of contributing to discussions on the state’s future development.

He noted that since leaving office, the former governor has continued to comment on governance issues and public policy in the state.

According to him, the achievements of the current administration and the experience of former leaders should be seen as part of the broader development journey of Imo State.

Ndukwe added that future leadership decisions should focus on sustaining development efforts and advancing the state’s long-term interests.

He concluded that Imo State’s progress would benefit from leadership committed to building on existing foundations while pursuing new opportunities for growth and development.
