Coca-Cola Nigeria has attributed its longevity in the country’s beverage market to its ability to adapt to changing consumer preferences and market realities.
Senior Director, Marketing, Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, Yusuf Murtala, said the company’s continued relevance after 75 years in Nigeria is anchored on innovation, consumer engagement and efforts to respond to the evolving needs of Nigerians.
Murtala spoke as Coca-Cola marked its 75th anniversary in Nigeria with the launch of a limited-edition 60cl PET bottle across selected product variants.
According to him, the company has continued to adjust its offerings and campaigns to align with the tastes and expectations of consumers.
“After 75 years, Coca-Cola remains grounded in still refreshing Nigeria through innovative product offerings, consumer experiences and campaigns that adapt to the evolving preferences of Nigerians and communities,” he said.
The anniversary package introduces a 60cl PET bottle for Coca-Cola Less Sugar, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Fanta and Sprite, providing an additional 10cl compared to the standard 50cl pack.
The initiative comes at a time when value for money has become a key consideration for many consumers amid prevailing economic challenges.
Since entering the Nigerian market in 1951, Coca-Cola has grown into one of the country’s most recognisable beverage brands, maintaining a presence at social gatherings, sporting events and family celebrations.
Also speaking, Director, Marketing Flavours, Soji Omoigui, said the anniversary campaign was designed not only to celebrate the company’s history in Nigeria but also to provide consumers with greater value.
According to him, the initiative reflects the company’s appreciation of consumers who have supported the brand over the decades.
“Coca-Cola’s 75th anniversary aims to offer consumers more of the Coca-Cola experiences they enjoy with greater refreshment and enhanced value as a celebration of the past and a toast to the future,” Omoigui said.
He added that the anniversary is also intended as a celebration of the resilience and spirit of Nigerians, noting that the company remains committed to strengthening its relationship with consumers across the country.
As part of the celebrations, Coca-Cola unveiled commemorative packaging for Coca-Cola Less Sugar featuring elements of Nigeria’s green-and-white national colours.
The company disclosed that activities marking the milestone would extend beyond the special packaging to include cultural, music and community-based engagements across the country.
According to the company, the activations are aimed at highlighting its long-standing connection with Nigerian consumers while reinforcing its presence in communities nationwide.
The anniversary campaign is expected to continue throughout the year as Coca-Cola commemorates 75 years of operations in Nigeria.
