Sinomart debuts in Ota, targets retail growth, job creation

In a retail landscape where some international brands have struggled to sustain operations, Sinomart Superstore has made a bold entry into Nigeria’s retail market with the opening of a new outlet in Ota, Ogun State.

Excitement filled the air as the Store officially opened its doors to the public on May 29, 2026, attracting hundreds of shoppers, community leaders, business stakeholders and well-wishers to its state-of-the-art retail facility.


The highly anticipated launch marked a significant milestone for the retail sector in Ogun State, bringing together a wide selection of household essentials, electronics, fashion items and lifestyle products under one roof.


Speaking at the launch, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sinomart International Limited, Mr. Sky Chunming Huang, expressed excitement over the company’s expansion into Ota.
According to him, the new establishment spans over 10,000 square metres and offers a wide range of unique products at affordable prices for people across different social classes.


He noted that the Ota branch represents more than a business investment, describing it as a commitment to community development, employment creation and the economic growth of Ogun State.

The historic opening was attended by the Olota of Ota, His Majesty Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, as well as Mr. Samuel Mustapha, Director of Cooperative Services, who represented the Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Wasiu Lawal.


Other dignitaries present included the Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, representatives of the Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Chief K.K. Ajose, the Erelu Ola of Ilogbo-Ota, the Chairperson of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ota Branch, senior police officers including representatives of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, and the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, FCID.


Traditional rulers and community leaders such as the Apesin of Ososun Ifo, the Yeye Apesin of Ifo and the Yeyesewa of Ile-Ife were also in attendance.


Delivering the monarch’s goodwill message, the Olota of Ota, His Majesty Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege commended Sinomart for demonstrating confidence in Ogun State as a destination for business and investment.


The monarch also welcomed the company to the Ota community and expressed optimism about its contribution to local economic development.


The event was further witnessed by commissioners from various sectors, local leaders and government officials involved in trade and investment.


The launch ceremony featured a ribbon-cutting session, guided tours of the facility, music and entertainment performances, promotional sales, product displays and giveaways that kept visitors engaged throughout the day.
