—-Warns against racketeering

The management of FUTA Teaching Hospital, Akure, has dismissed allegations that the Chief Medical Director, Prof Olusegun Ojo, conducted selective IPPIS biometric captures to favour certain individuals.

Head of Public Relations at the hospital, Tope Fayehun, described the allegation as malicious and designed to damage the reputation of the CMD and the institution.

“These claims are patent lies,” Fayehun said.

He clarified that the only legal and approved capturing exercise is the one being conducted by the IPPIS Directorate, which commenced Monday, September 8, 2026.

“The CMD has not authorised, instructed, or participated in any selective biometric capturing activity before now and never will,” he said.

Fayehun said all biometric capturing under the Federal IPPIS system at the hospital is being conducted in line with federal guidelines and institutional procedures, under the supervision of authorised personnel.

He added that preliminary inquiries suggest some individuals had been engaged in racketeering by selling or promising appointment letters and access to jobs within the hospital.

“These unscrupulous actions are criminal in nature and management will address them in due season,” Fayehun said.

He urged staff and the public to remain calm and shun rumour mongering, saying the hospital remains committed to transparency, fairness, and staff welfare.

Fayehun asked for the cooperation of staff and stakeholders to ensure the success of the ongoing IPPIS biometric capturing exercise.

He said this would enable the hospital to obtain its “Approved Takeoff Establishment” from the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation and secure its status as federal workers.
