*Says dissenting group causing confusion

The leadership of the PDP in Lagos State, yesterday, dismissed reports claiming that it has entered into any coalition arrangement with the APM ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party described the claim as false, misleading, and the handiwork of individuals who no longer have any standing within the PDP.
Speaking on behalf of the party, the Lagos State Chairman, Mr Muka Popoola, stated that those parading themselves as promoters of an APM coalition are disgruntled members.
Popoola said the individuals involved had long ceased to be members of the party, accusing them of repeatedly sabotaging the PDP at critical electoral periods in favour of rival political interests.
The chairman, in a statement by the Publicity Secretary, Dr Adebiyi Phillips, declared that the individuals purportedly fielding candidates under the APM are backed by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in a bid to destabilise the party in Lagos State.
He stated that the Lagos PDP had long ceased to recognise the Bode George faction following the expulsion of its leader from the party by the erstwhile National Caretaker Committee in December 2025.
“The Lagos PDP remains united, focused, and fully committed to rebuilding and repositioning the party for victory in future elections. At no time did the party authorise or endorse any coalition talks with the APM or any other political platform,” he said.
The Chairman urged party faithful and the public to disregard the purported coalition announcement, insisting that it was a blindly desperate attempt by politically irrelevant elements to create confusion and misrepresent the position of the PDP.
He reaffirmed that the authentic leadership structure of the PDP in Lagos State remains intact and loyal to the ideals and constitution of the party, stressing that all legitimate activities and decisions of the party would only emanate from its recognised organs as may be directed by the national leadership headed by Abdulrahman Mohammed and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the National Chairman and National Secretary respectively.
Popoola further assured members that the Lagos PDP is presently consolidating its structures across the state and remains determined to provide a credible and formidable opposition capable of reclaiming political relevance in Lagos State and beyond.
