David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been named among the 2026 inductees into the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta — a major global honour that further highlights Afrobeats’ growing influence on the world stage.

The Nigerian superstar joins an elite lineup that includes Atlanta rap icon Ludacris, gospel legend Bishop Paul S. Morton, and the late former Atlanta Mayor Maynard Jackson. The announcement comes as the “Timeless” crooner revealed he is taking an indefinite break from music. The induction ceremony is scheduled for 1 June 2026 in Atlanta’s Historic Westside, along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Northside Drive, outside Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Established in 2021 by the Black American Music Association and the Georgia Entertainment Caucus, the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame honours trailblazers who have shaped Black culture globally. Its downtown Atlanta sidewalks are lined with bronze and gold plaques celebrating music and entertainment icons across generations.

Davido’s inclusion places him alongside global legends such as Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Tyler Perry, Lauryn Hill, James Brown, Quincy Jones, and Stevie Wonder. The recognition underscores both Afrobeats’ unstoppable global rise and Davido’s standing as one of its leading ambassadors.

According to the organisers, Davido is being honoured for his role in elevating Afrobeats worldwide, as well as for his entrepreneurship and philanthropic work.

On his sabbatical from music, the pop star told fans not to expect new releases anytime soon. In a recent livestream with Davrel, he said he no longer needs to drop new music to remain relevant, noting that his existing songs continue to dominate club playlists.
