The All Progressives Congress political stakeholders in Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency have resolved to present Moses Olanrewaju as the consensus candidate for the Federal House of Representatives and Folorunsho Olaitan, alias Olawrstern, for the Amuwo Odofin Constituency 1 seat at the Lagos State House of Assembly in the 2027 polls.

Blazing the trail at an endorsement parley jointly addressed by the Amuwo Odofin Local Government Executive Chairman, Prince Lanre Sanusi,PLS, Amuwo Odofin Apex leaders
In the presence of Otunba Dotun Adegbola, Memunat Ajao, and other stakeholders present, the two aspiring APC members were unveiled as the party’s consensus candidates for the two key positions ahead of the party’s primaries.

Sanusi asserted that given the track records of the said candidates, they will do quite well in the two positions if supported by all to emerge as elected members.

The council  boss hinted that the elections are all about the return of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who has done so well by enabling the 774 local governments across the federation to deliver the goods, through increased funding allocated to councils.

He charged the would-be candidates to strive hard and ensure maximum delivery at the polls for Tinubu, which he said will largely trickle down to them as eventual victory.

“This is to keep the party faithful abreast of the latest development, telling them the decision of the party that the leadership are looking towards having a consensus candidate across board because of the challenges that we had in the past that resulted in our failure, especially in Amuwo Odofin and a few other local governments, which led to Tinubu losing the elections.

“We don’t want to continue the same way and expect a different result hence we have decided to come together to start early, because in the past, what you see among the aspirants is that 20, sometimes 30 people will be aspiring for one position here in Amuwo Odofin and after the primaries, you will suddenly discover that it leads  to bad blood among party members and supporters.

“This is to prevent some of the mistakes that we made in the past to ensure that here in Amuwo Odofin and Oriade, we will have a consensus candidate for House of Reps and also for the House of Assembly.

“There is a directive to that effect, all I am saying for the records is that whichever candidates that is presented to us by the party, that is what I will work with as the local government Chairman.

“It is our desire that the candidates that have been presented to us now, whom we know as people of good character and integrity, popular in their respective localities, are the candidates that can take us to the promise land.

“We know their track records, this is Asiwaju’s election, he remains the focus, for we know that the moment we deliver Bola Tinubu, the general candidates that the party will be giving to us will also win along the line.

“The process of consensus is about 98 percent completed, what is left is that the party leadership are still watching a few other things because it is when you buy the forms that is when we know that you are contesting, we don’t  want to assume that you have people that are contesting.”

For Adegbola, Apex leader APC Amuwo Odofin, Olawestern only coming to take back a stolen mandate taken away from him via the court as he has remained a trustworthy party member even after he was denied overtime.

“Olawestern is going to take back his mandate that was stolen for the House of Assembly, we are bringing up Moses Olanrewaju MO, for the green chamber and we are so sure he is going to come back with what we want.

“We put our name to it that they are our consensus candidates, while all contenders are free to come for primaries.

“Olawestern has been making this party vibrant for all the years he has been contesting, the monies he has been putting into it is unprecedented.

Ajao, the Apex Chairman Amuwo Odofin however, stated what endears her to  Olawestern is that he has never left the party even after repeated attempts for the seat he still stayed.

“He has already vied for the seat now for about three times but he did not leave the party, every festive periods he will give people rice, chicken, groundnut oil and money, that is why we know he is a good candidate who will represent us well.

“We created Amuwo Odofin in 1966, we have not seen good people like this we are fielding, as the story often change when they get to Abuja, this time around, we leaders sat down and decided to chose someone that we represent us, and all of us endorsed MO, both the Senator, leaders in Oriade and Amuwo Odofin did because it is a federal house representatives position.”

In his response to the gesture by the party leadership, M O, gave a trajectory of impacts made so far in Amuwo Odofin and how poised he is to evolve a great future for Amuwo odofin federal constituency.

“If you have followed our antecedents you will discover that all through, our live has been about service to the people, and we have singlehandedly carried out road constructions within this Federal constituency, which people can attest to, we’ve had impacts in empowerment programmes.

“We have also had impacts in leadership programmes that have raised a number of youths in our community and for this purpose, we have decided that if we have been able to do it on a private basis, then what is holding us back from doing it on a wider scale?

“That is why we have come forward to aspire for this and hoping and trusting God that we will be able to get the candidacy and be able to do it on a larger scale.

“We feel very excited that the leadership of the All Progressives Congress right from the top to the bottom found us worthy, and they came together to accept us as the APC consensus candidates for the seat of Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency.

“Within eight months that we got the chairmanship position, which we have been an integral part of we’ve been able to get about 15 roads flagged off simultaneously and within that same space of time not less than five of these roads have been completed with more still counting.

“Now if we have our own House of Assembly member and we have our own federal representative at the Federal House of Reps-National Assembly, we are going to work synergetically with our local government chairmen across the federal constituency, to build and consolidate on their achievements, and we are trusting that the people of Amuwo Odofin, will be able to see this and work with us to ensure that this becomes a reality.

In his remark, OlaWestern, was quick to state how connected he is to the constituents while adding that working along with the council chairman and aided by the federal legislator that belongs to the APC fold will speed up democratic dividends across the constituency.

“I will represent you very well when we get to the Lagos State House of Assembly.

“We have a very good local government chairman and again our President Bola Tinubu has really reduced the problems that we are having in the community, our major problem here in Amuwo Odofin is road, to be honest with you the local government has been attending to it very well due to increase of funds made available by the President with which he has been able to attend to almost all of our needs.

“All we need to do when we get to the house is to consolidate on what the local government is doing already.”
