2027: Haske formally declares for Adamawa governor, promises inclusive growth

Abdulrahman Bashir Haske on Saturday formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), unveiling a seven-point development blueprint tagged the A.D.A.M.A.W.A First Agenda.

The declaration ceremony, held at the Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola, attracted party faithful, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth and women groups, diaspora community members, and APC stakeholders from across the state’s 21 local government areas.

Also present were representatives of the City Boy Movement, over 265 women associations, and national and sub-national dignitaries.

Addressing supporters, Haske described the moment as both historic and personal, saying his governorship ambition was rooted in his lifelong connection to Adamawa.

He said he was born and raised in the state, built his businesses there, and remained committed to its future.

Haske praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he called courageous and necessary national reforms, while also acknowledging Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for laying important foundations in governance and infrastructure.

He also commended the APC leadership at the national and state levels, particularly the newly inaugurated state leadership led by Hamza Bello, expressing confidence in their ability to provide a level playing field for all aspirants.

Central to his declaration was the unveiling of the A.D.A.M.A.W.A First Agenda, a policy framework focused on agriculture, infrastructure, social development, youth inclusion, governance, wealth creation, and security.

On agriculture, Haske pledged to transform the sector into a modern wealth-creating industry, targeting a N300 billion export-grade economy, one million jobs, and a N200 billion agricultural guarantee fund.

He also promised equitable infrastructure development, including the rehabilitation of at least 25 kilometres of roads annually in each local government area, renewable energy expansion, improved water supply, and stronger digital connectivity.

In education and healthcare, he said his administration would rehabilitate 500 schools, recruit and train 3,000 STEM-qualified teachers, and expand the Adamawa Health Insurance Scheme to cover at least one million residents within three years.

On security, he proposed the establishment of an Adamawa Security Trust Fund to modernise security operations and improve intelligence-led policing.

Describing his ambition as “a covenant with the people,” Haske said he was seeking the opportunity to serve, not power for its own sake, promising leadership built on unity, transparency, and shared prosperity.

Among dignitaries at the event were APC National Youth Leader Dayo Israel, former Senator Binta Masi Garba, and Special Assistant to the President on Youth Development Titilope Gbadamosi.
