The former British and Commonwealth Light Heavyweight boxing champion, Peter Idemudia Oboh, has said that Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu and wife, Oluremi’s visit to the United Kingdom, UK, and being hosted by the King of England and the Commonwealth, King Charles III, has made him very proud to be a citizen of both countries.

“In fact,” he said, “I feel six feet taller.”

Peter Oboh said: “Being hosted by the King himself is raising some eyebrows both home and abroad. A British lady just called me, telling me ‘Your president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is on live British TV, being hosted by King Charles III’.

“When I heard that, I felt nine feet tall in gladness. A few minutes later I was informed again that the indegenous people of Biafra are carrying out a peaceful protest in the United Kingdom for Nnamdi Kanu their leader to be set free.

“To me, everyone has the right to their own personal views. I don’t support him being in prison, but there might be a risk involved in him being out of prison. That may be the Nigerian government’s fear, because of Nnamdi Kanu’s radical supporters, mainly from the Eastern part of Nigeria.

“One thing we must know is that whoever dies is dead. To me, I think the best thing will be one day eastern Nigeria should have a referendum by themselves – if actually Biafra state should be established or not.

“You should not be surprised that majority of the easterners may say no to the Biafra state. Why? To me, the majority of the eastern people and those protesting in the United Kingdom have majority of their wealth outside the eastern part of Nigeria that they refer to as Biafra region.

“If they are asked to go back to that region with their wealth and belongings, the gospel truth is they will not buy such an idea. So my question is why protesting in vain? Let us be wise in our actions both home and abroad.”
