Educators, mentors and life coaches have encouraged teenagers to embrace their dreams and purposes in life notwithstanding challenges while remaining resilient, curious and empathic.
They spoke at the launch of the novel: ‘ITAN, A poor Boy with Big dreams,’ written by Sasonel Adebiyi, a gospel Musician and recording artist at the Fidelity SME Hub, Lagos.
The launch had in attendance teenagers from various schools and featured talk sessions and gifting.
The author explained that the book was written to inspire and encourage teenagers to always go after their dreams not minding the odds as challenges would always be there to hinder one.
Adebiyi said: “We observed that children and a lot of people just live. They wake up and do the normal things that humans do, but what is that purpose that they were born for.
“The book is about resilience and grit. basically doing everything against all odds. there is also the theme of help of God and man because in life no man is an island.”
Also speaking, General Manager and Divisional head, Fidelity Bank, Nnenna Kayode-lawal, said that there should be no limitation to the minds of young ones noting that with guidance on how to align thoughts and drive purpose, they can achieve their goals.
She urged young ones to identify their God-given gifts and talents and refine the gifts to help them attain success.
Kayode-lawal said: “Success is the realisation of a worthy ideal. Its a not just about becoming a lawyer or doctor but going about whatever you have you have purposed in your mind to do and achieving it. Write your vision and start building on it like an architect.”
In his remarks, Mr. Adeboye Mayowa said that the book resonated with the experiences he had at his younger years.
He urged teenagers to do whatever they needed to do to achieve their goals rather than remain in their comfort zones.
Mayowa said: “Whatever it is you set your mind too, everything required for you to achieve that goal just do it. It can be challenging but do it
“If you have to read your books, read them. If you go to my office you would see piles of books. I started reading because I wasn’t comfortable with how I was.”
