Defence Minister Musa bags JKD Man of the Year Award

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General C.G. Musa (retd), has been named the 2025 Man of the Year by JKD TV, a recognition platform celebrating exceptional leadership in public service.

The award, presented by JKD, honours the former Chief of Defence Staff for what the organisation described as “exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication and distinguished service to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

General Musa, who assumed office as Defence Minister under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, has been at the forefront of Nigeria’s security architecture during a period marked by complex challenges across multiple theatres of operation.

Before his ministerial appointment, he served as the Chief of Defence Staff, overseeing the coordination of military operations against insurgency in the Northeast, banditry in the Northwest, and other security threats across the country.

The JKD Man of the Year Award is an annual recognition given to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to national development and public service.

General Musa’s military career spans several decades, during which he held various command and staff positions both within and outside Nigeria. He rose through the ranks with postings that included field operations, training institutions, and strategic defence planning roles.

His tenure as Defence Minister has coincided with renewed efforts to modernise Nigeria’s armed forces, improve welfare conditions for troops, and enhance inter-agency collaboration in the fight against insecurity.

The award plaque, which bears the JKD TV emblem and a gold-framed portrait of the minister, was presented in recognition of his contributions to national security and defence policy formulation.

JKD TV has not yet released details on the selection criteria or the ceremony at which the award was formally conferred.

General Musa joins a list of past recipients who have been honoured for their impact in various sectors of Nigerian society.
