Mount Zion LightHouse Full Gospel Church has announced the constitution of a new Board of Trustees, whose members were duly appointed and formally approved by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), in line with statutory and ecclesiastical requirements.

The newly constituted Board of Trustees convened its meeting on December 31, 2025 at the church headquarters at 9, Inyang Street, Calabar, Cross River State.

According to a statement by Mrs Uduak Akpan, chairman, Board of Trustees of the church, “Following extensive deliberations and prayerful consideration, the Board unanimously resolved that the Church President, Archbishop Nyong Davies Ayakndue, be retired from active leadership duties due to his advanced age, having attained the age of 100 years, and in consideration of his health.

“The decision is intended to grant him a well-deserved season of rest, renewal, and restoration.”

The Board stated that this resolution reflects its sincere care and concern for the Archbishop’s well-being, as well as its responsibility to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the ministry.

“In line with this decision, the Board of Trustees has formally communicated with Archbishop Ayakndue, informing him that his retirement from the office of President will take effect on 19 January 2026. This timeline is designed to allow the Board to complete the transition process, including necessary resolutions and the receipt of a written acknowledgement addressed to the Board Secretary on or before 7 January 2026.

“The Board further affirmed its commitment to a dignified, respectful, and seamless transition. Plans are underway to engage relevant stakeholders and to organise a suitable service of appreciation to honour the Archbishop’s lifetime of faithful service and contributions to the church.

According to the Board, the decision was taken in good faith, guided by godly wisdom, and motivated solely by the desire to reposition Mount Zion LightHouse Full Gospel Church to effectively fulfill its original divine mandate of leading souls to salvation and eternal life. The Board emphasized that the action is neither borne out of malice nor disrespect, but is rooted in love, responsibility, and a genuine concern for the continued stability and growth of the church.”

The ongoing restructuring process, the Board noted, is being carried out in a spirit of peace, reconciliation, unity, and transparency, with openness to dialogue and collaboration with all sincere stakeholders committed to the advancement of God’s work.

“The Board of Trustees, therefore, calls on all members, elders, and stakeholders of Mount Zion LightHouse Full Gospel Church to remain calm, prayerful, and supportive during this transition period, and to continue working together harmoniously for the advancement of God’s Kingdom.

“May the peace of God prevail among us all.”
