The Otukpo community has commended the Och’Idoma, His Royal Majesty Dr. Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John, for the appointment of Chief Aloga Ogbogo as Mayor of Otukpo Local Government Area, describing the decision as timely and well deserved.
A delegation from Otukpo, led by Chief Robert Obeka Iya, paid a courtesy visit to the Och’Idoma to express gratitude for the appointment.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Chief Iya said the choice of Chief Ogbogo reflected confidence in the capacity and leadership qualities of “our son and brother,” noting that the community was united in its support.
“This appointment shows the trust Your Majesty has in our people, and we assure you of our loyalty and cooperation,” he said.
In his remarks, the Och’Idoma called on all residents of Otukpo Local Government to rally behind the new mayor, stressing that his mandate covers the entire local government area.
“Chief Aloga Ogbogo is the Mayor of the whole Otukpo Local Government, not just the township. I urge everyone to give him maximum support to succeed,” the royal father said.
The Agaba-Idu also offered prayers for the mayor’s good health and wisdom, describing the mayoral office as an extension of his authority. “The mayor is my working tool. Wherever I cannot reach, he will represent me and serve the people diligently,” he stated.
While thanking God for guidance throughout his four years on the throne the monarch acknowledged that “It is only God that gives positions.”
Also speaking, Chief Eche Ochela, who represented Otukpo Township Wards 1, 2 and 3, praised the Och’Idoma for the peace currently enjoyed in Idomaland. “We are grateful for your leadership and we pray that God continues to protect and strengthen you,” he said.
In a vote of thanks, the clan head of Otada Community, Chief Owuna Oketa, thanked the Och’Idoma for giving Otada “our son and brother” as mayor, praying for more wisdom and progress for the royal father and the entire Idomaland.
Other leaders, including Chief Akatu Ahubi, Chief Francis Onmoke, Chief Sunday Abechi (Rtd. Customs Controller), Chief Agbo Agbo and Chief Emmanuel Ongaji, also offered prayers for the Och’Idoma and the mayor, urging them to continue leading the Idoma people toward peace and development.
