The Nyankpa Chiefdom in Nasarawa State recently celebrated a milestone as His Royal Highness, Barr. Dr. Joel S. Aninge, the Odyong Nyankpa, marked 25 years of dedicated and visionary leadership.
The Silver Jubilee celebration, held at the Odyong Nyankpa Playground in Panda Development Area, brought together dignitaries, traditional rulers, and community members in a remarkable display of unity and respect. Amb. Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd) chaired the occasion, presiding with distinction.
The event highlighted HRH Aninge’s enduring legacy of peace, compassion, and service over the past quarter-century. Prominent attendees included representatives of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, Gbong Gwom Jos Da Jacob Gyang Buba, and HRH Justice Sidi Mohammed Bage (Rtd), Emir of Lafia. Several other traditional rulers from across Nasarawa State were also in attendance.
In a statement, Lt. Gen. Buratai (Rtd) reflected on over two decades of friendship with HRH Aninge, praising his exceptional legacy of scholarship, justice, and unwavering dedication to his people, while praying for continued success and blessings for the monarch’s reign.
The Silver Jubilee was further distinguished by a humanitarian outreach, underscoring the values of compassion and service championed by the royal father. Through a joint initiative of the TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation and the Tukur and Tukur Foundation, a free medical outreach provided eye screenings, ENT treatments, and general medical consultations. Led by Col. Haruna Idris Zaria (Rtd), the medical team attended to 1,025 beneficiaries, distributing reading glasses and treating common ailments, significantly improving the quality of life for many residents.
The celebration was more than a ceremonial milestone; it reaffirmed the sacred bond between leadership and service, demonstrating how tradition, anchored in compassion and purpose, can inspire unity, uplift communities, and drive development.
The event sent a clear message: true leadership is measured not by years on the throne, but by lives touched and communities transformed, setting a shining example for Nasarawa State and beyond.
