As part of its corporate social responsibility, Fidelity Bank has donated equipment to the Federal Fire Service, Lagos Command, Zone J. Some officials of the Fire Service, Lagos Command led by Controller Adebayo F.M received the donation from representatives of Fidelity Bank.

Speaking on the donation, Controller Adebayo said, “Last month, my command went out for awareness on how to prevent fire outbreaks in banks, marketplace, plazas, business hubs and others. We don’t want any fire outbreak, that is why we embarked on that awareness in the month of November to educate the citizens and also warn our people about fire works”.

According to him, “we educate people on the danger of throwing knockouts, bangers and all those things that can trigger a fire outbreak. A person can light a knockout and then it lands on a car. This is the reason we created awareness to the public that they should be very careful during this Harmattan and Christmas period on how they make use of their fireworks, knowing that prevention is better than cure. I want to thank Fidelity bank for helping us during this December period”.

Speaking on what inspired the donation, Head of Contact Centre, Fidelity Bank, Rose Mary, said, “Earlier in the year when the fire incident happened, we were not happy about the videos we saw online. We were heartbroken and thought of what we could do to support fire service men that go out to put off fires when there is an outbreak.

“So we decided to approach them, and ironically we had a program we were running in the office and some suggested why don’t we go to the fire service costumes to appreciate the fire service men. So we went to them and engaged them, and found out that one of their pin points was the absence of a pumping machine.

“So when we approached our management that we have this corporate social responsibility team to support the Fire service for this year, they agreed. They came and supported them with the pumping machine. That’s why we have two pumping machines we have provided to the fire service to help them work”.
