ASABA—PALPABLE fear has gripped residents of Ibusa community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, especially the bank workers in the town, as some faceless bandits have allegedly written a letter and pasted same in front of the banks, announcing their impending attack on the banks again as a revenge mission.
Following the letter sent to two new generation banks attacked in the town about a fort- night ago, the affected banks have become jittery, considering the traumatic experience they had during the last attack forcing them to shut their doors to customers for some time.
The state police command’s spokesman, Mr. Charles Muka, however, told Vanguard that ”the information originated from rumours. The command has taken serious measures to stem such criminal insurgence in the state.”
He declined to elaborate on the security measures put in place.
The robbery gang numbering about 30, had, a fortnight ago, robbed the two banks with assault weapons including rocket launchers and grenades in which N2.7 million allegedly stolen from the banks, was recovered from them, according to the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba.
