Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, CON, Chancellor of Achievers University, has commended the institution for its consistency in academic delivery and character formation, urging members of the graduating class to see their education as a mandate to lead, innovate and solve societal problems.

Dogara gave the commendation in a goodwill message marking the university’s 15th Convocation Ceremony and its 18 years of academic existence, describing the occasion as a celebration of vision sustained by discipline, sacrifice and institutional focus.

The Chancellor said Achievers University was founded to produce graduates who are not only academically sound but morally upright, stressing that the institution has remained faithful to this founding philosophy despite evolving educational challenges.

Although he was unavoidably absent from the ceremony, Dogara said he shared fully in the joy of the university community, parents and graduates, noting that convocation ceremonies offer moments of reflection on the true purpose of education and leadership.

He praised the Governing Council for providing steady policy direction and oversight, which he said has helped preserve the university’s academic integrity and administrative stability. He also acknowledged the leadership of the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oyesoji Aremu, for sustaining peace within the system while strengthening teaching standards, research activities and community engagement.

Dogara further recognised the efforts of lecturers, administrators and non-teaching staff, describing them as the unseen architects of the institution’s progress and the key drivers behind the quality of graduates produced.

Addressing the graduating students, the Chancellor urged them to recognise that the certificates awarded to them are symbols of trust and responsibility, not mere academic documents. He advised them to uphold the values of discipline, honesty and excellence in their professional and personal pursuits.

He warned that the realities of the modern world demand adaptability, ethical judgment and resilience, stressing that success would depend on the ability to combine competence with character.

Dogara also paid tribute to parents and guardians for their sacrifices and support, noting that their commitment to education has played a vital role in shaping the achievements being celebrated.

The Chancellor thanked alumni, partners and benefactors for their continued contributions to the growth of the institution, calling for deeper collaboration as the university works towards expanding its research capacity and global relevance.

Reaffirming his support for the institution, Dogara expressed confidence in Achievers University’s future, stating that with sustained investment in quality assurance, innovation and human capital, the university will continue to play a meaningful role in national development.

He urged the graduates to move forward with confidence, integrity and a strong sense of purpose, assuring them that they have been adequately prepared to make positive impact wherever they find themselves.
