ABUJA — Nigeria’s integration into the global education ecosystem received a boost on Wednesday with the official launch of UNIPASS Nigeria, a branch of the UK-based education consultancy.

The organisation aims to facilitate two-way academic mobility, assisting Nigerian students in accessing foreign universities while attracting international students to Nigerian institutions.

CEO Alvin Atsegwasi explained that UNIPASS operates a regulated, risk-free model, addressing challenges linked to dubious agencies and unstructured migration pathways. He said the organisation will focus on partnerships with reputable Nigerian institutions, including the Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management, to position Nigeria as an emerging education hub.

Co-founder Sanpreet Sehmi revealed that UNIPASS had already signed its first African institutional partnership in Lagos, highlighting Nigeria’s capacity to deliver international-standard programmes. “A world-class education does not always require crossing continents,” she noted.

Executive Director Maureen Mutsiya added that the organisation’s two-year presence in Africa had already connected over 1,200 students to institutions in Europe, North America, and Oceania. She said the Abuja office would accelerate regional engagement and foster new global collaborations.

Government officials, including the Senior Special Assistant to the President on School Feeding, Dr. Yetunde Adeniji, joined industry leaders at the event, commending UNIPASS for strengthening Nigeria’s international education profile.
