Rising-Up for a United Nigeria (RUN), a civil society organization committed to good governance and policy reforms, has lauded the cooperative and productive relationship between Nigeria’s legislature and executive.

The commendation was made in the opening remarks by Amb. Solomon Adodo during the 5th edition of the Godswill Akpabio Leadership and Youth Mentorship Lecture Series.

Reflecting on the need to strengthen regional development, enhance productivity, and bolster national security, Adodo praised the current National Assembly under Senator Godswill Akpabio for its focus on grassroots development and people-oriented leadership.

He said, “The current All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, together with the National Assembly, has proven time and again that it is pro-masses. This is evident in life-changing programs and initiatives that directly impact the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

“With the creation of regional development commissions and the smooth passage of relevant legislation, it is clear that the Senate under Senator Godswill Akpabio and Mr. President are determined to bring governance closer to the people and address their everyday challenges.

“Senator Godswill Akpabio has demonstrated uncommon courage and magnanimity in his leadership over the years. His open-door policy and legacy projects throughout his stewardship as a servant leader are feats worth celebrating,” Adodo added.

In his keynote address, the Chairman of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Barr. Cosmas Akighir, described Senator Akpabio as “a true nationalist and patriot who has served Nigeria with distinction.”

He further noted that the establishment of NCDC received accelerated legislative backing thanks to Senator Akpabio’s genuine interest in the Nigerian project and alignment with President Tinubu’s vision for a prosperous nation.

Barr. Akighir urged Nigerians to “support the President and the National Assembly rather than resorting to divisive rhetoric and needless distractions that will only slow down the actualization of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

A highlight of the event was the empowerment of youths and unemployed Nigerians with tools and machines worth millions of naira, aimed at enhancing livelihoods in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The annual event attracted participants from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), including youths, middle-aged Nigerians, elected and appointed officials, captains of industry, civil society leaders, and religious and traditional rulers.
