Ajaegbu: Bank78 set to transform customer experience in Nigeria’s financial Sector

Bank78 MFB has officially launched operations in Lagos with a bold promise to disrupt Nigeria’s financial ecosystem by delivering an all-in-one digital banking experience targeted at individuals, families, students, SMEs and upwardly mobile professionals.

The unveiling, held at The Hall, Victoria Island, brought together industry leaders, regulators, partners and the media as the bank positioned itself as a bridge between fast-paced fintech services and the stability of traditional banks.

Chairman of Bank78, Bright Ajaegbu, said the bank was built with clarity of purpose and designed from inception to address long-standing gaps in the financial system.

“We are here to launch not an ordinary bank, but a bank that has the capacity to change the narratives in the banking industry,” he said. “What we have done today is a disruption. In a couple of weeks, you will see it in the financial ecosystem. This bank is designed for businesses, families, individuals and students to experience a new way of banking.”

Ajaegbu added that Bank78 had been operating remotely while building its systems and was now ready to scale fully. According to him, the goal is to allow customers carry out complete banking transactions, from account opening to transfers, investments and loan applications, from the comfort of their homes or offices.

Director of Bank78, EviOghene Osifo-Whiskey, described the new institution as a response to critical gaps in convenience, safety and trust.

“Bank78 is technically offering an all-in-one banking experience,” she said. “If you’re thinking of speed, savings, scheduled payments, loans, personal and business banking — everything is compact in one space.”

Osifo-Whiskey stressed that transparency, trust and security were central to the bank’s operations, noting that the institution is licensed by the CBN, insured by the NDIC and adheres to ISO and data-protection standards.

“Money is a critical matter. People don’t play with it,” she said. “So we ensure customers can see what their money is doing, where it is, and how it moves at every step.”

She also clarified concerns about excessive bank charges, saying most deductions seen in banks are regulatory, not arbitrary. Bank78, she added, maintains interest-friendly loans and avoids unnecessary fees in line with its commitment to make customers’ financial lives easier.

Also speaking, Director of Sales at Bank78 MFB, Eberechukwu Dike, said the bank was created to restore empathy, trust and relationship-driven service in the banking sector.

“We believe there is a gap where banks don’t provide relationship and empathy to customers,” Dike said. “At Bank78, we are big on SMEs. We follow them from start to scale — from business registration support to advisory, capacity-building workshops and growth programmes.”

Dike explained that while the bank has a physical office, its operations are primarily digital, supported by a 24-hour contact centre and an in-app assistant designed to resolve customer issues within minutes.

Earlier in the event, Osifo-Whiskey presented the bank’s brand philosophy, highlighting its goal to combine the speed of fintechs with the confidence of private banking. Guests were shown features such as seamless onboarding, dependable transfers, an intuitive interface and real-time support powered by Ruby, the bank’s digital assistant.

Bank78 said it aims to serve Nigeria’s mass-affluent population and “new generation of achievers” who want reliability, clarity and a refined digital banking experience.

The bank is now live and open to customers nationwide.
