OWERRI – Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has appealed to traditional rulers to assist law enforcement agencies in checking the increasing spate of violent crimes in the state.

Okorocha, who made the appeal while flagging off the training for royal fathers on how to carry out legislative business, also said  there was no going back on the proposed fourth-tier government in the state.

“I must state that there is no going back in my resolve to institute the community government council in the state,” Okorocha said.

He warned civil servants yet to present themselves for the verification in their communities to do so now as “anybody who failed to complete the form would no longer be paid salaries.”

Addressing the traditional rulers, the facilitator of the programme and immediate past representative of Imo West in the Senate, Chief Osita Izunaso, called for collaboration between the government and the governed.

Izunaso said  no meaningful development could take place in the country if the people were not allowed to fully participate in their affairs.
