ABAKALIKI— EBONYI State Police Command has debunked reports that AK-47 rifles were recovered from the hoodlums that attacked the palace of Eze Moses Ngele of Ishiagu Kingdom in Ivo local government area of the state.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP John Eluu, none of the suspects arrested in connection with the invasion of the king’s palace was seen with AK 47
rifles. He said only a single pistol was recovered from them.
Eluu, who also confirmed the arrest of three suspects, stressed that investigations were on to ascertain the motive behind the attack and if the hoodlums were actually sent by any stakeholder in
the area to cause commotion in the king’s palace on the fateful day.
Speaking with Vanguard, Eze Moses Ngele, noted that since the attack, police men had visited his palace, alleging that two stakeholders of Ishiagu (names withheld) were
responsible for the ugly episode.
He said: “I’m awaiting the outcome of the investigation by the police. The incident that happened in my palace could have led to my untimely death. These boys who came to my palace threatened to kill me over
nothing while I was having a meeting with some elders of the community.
“What did we do wrong? I really don’t know why some politicians are fond of intruding into activities at the rural areas instead of concentrating on politics
“If they are tired of being in government they should resign and come and join us at the community. It is unfortunate simply because someone is in government; he or she now has the right to impose their decision on us.”
