It’s honourable to reinstate Salami – Aregbesola

OSOGBO –  GOVERNOR Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to tow the path of honour by immediately reinstating the suspended President of the Appeal Court, Justice Ayo Salami.

The governor made this call while delivering a speech at the launch of three books in his honour, titled: The Divine Road to Justice, The Power-Force of Destiny and The Spirit of Mandate, at the Centre for Black Culture and International Understanding, Osogbo.

The governor said after the resolution of the matter by the National Judicial Commission, NJC, justice must be done by the President, noting that the suspension of Salami was erroneous and ill-advised.

He said: “So, if NJC ordered the suspension of Salami and it has also resolved to recall him, if our President will want to be seen as a man who believes in the rule of law, Justice Ayo salami should be reinstated without further delay.”

Aregbesola, while commenting on the books, said ”they are documented reminiscences of the prevailing tempestuous atmosphere of the happenings in Osun State  during the 2007 general election and the three and a half years of legal battles to reclaim the stolen mandate.”

Commending the authors of the book, the governor noted that the four writers have written books that should be patiently chewed and carefully digested. He stressed that the people of the state will always remember those brutally murdered and those who suffered unimaginable deprivations and losses, adding that those who perpetrated those dastardly acts have since been forgiven.

“The four writers have written books that should be patiently chewed and carefully digested. We will always remember those brutally murdered and those who suffered unimaginable privations and losses. Though we have generously forgiven the beastly souls who rabidly sought to destroy us and our mandate, these books will continue to remind us of that mind-bending phase of our history,” the governor said.

Aregbesola also stressed that his love of books informed the policy thrust on education that his administration has come up with in the state.
