By Austin Ogwuda
Asaba — DELTA State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, yesterday, made a N500,000 donation to officers and men of the force, who confronted the bandits who shot and killed a Divisional Police Officers, DPO, during Monday’s robbery attacks at  Ibusa and Igbodo in the state.

He acknowledge that  the robbers overwhelmed them (police) with superior fire power as the bandits were fully armed with rocket launchers and assault rifles, but praised his men for confronting them gallantly, saying that the donation of N500,000 was to encourage and further boost their morale.

He said, “In such a critical situation in the security parlance, we say you beat a retreat. When you beat a retreat, you stay alive to tell the story.  It is just like this DPO, who died. Why?  Many travellers were trapped and what he  (late DPO) wanted to do was to clear the road for them. That was it. He was one of our bravest officers. That was what he did.”

Two of the suspected members of the gang arrested with serious bullet wounds were paraded arrested  before newsmen at the state police headquarters, Asaba, yesterday,  along with items recovered from them.
