Stakeholders fault Nddc states governors’ forum

By JIMITOTA ONOYUME

PORT HARCOURT – STAKEHOLDERS in the Niger Delta region have faulted the formation of Niger Delta Development Commission Member States Governors Forum, NDDCMSGF, describing it as illegal and a drain on public funds.

Speaking under the aegis of Niger Delta Youth Leaders Focus, president of the body, Mr. Yemi Tumini, said the body which was recently floated by governors of states in the region, was unnecessary since there was in existence, a forum for the governors of the region.

The group said the recent forum constituted by the governors amounted to unnecessary duplication of functions. To strengthen their position, the group quoted a portion of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC Act on the issue.

The group called for the dissolution of NDDCMSGF, adding that the governors could come together to strengthen the NDDAC, which is provided for in NDDC.
