MAIDUGURI – MEN of the Joint Task Force, JTF, in Borno State have arrested six suspected armed robbers that specialised in snatching vehicles in Maiduguri metropolis. Those arrested include four of the gang members and two alleged receivers of stolen vehicles.

In a statement, yesterday, spokesman of the task force, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa said the suspected robbers were arrested at Airport Road, Maiduguri, adding that three stolen vehicles were also recovered.

According to Musa, preliminary investigations revealed that the two suspected accomplices willingly receive the stolen vehicles, which they later sell off to other buyers.

He said: ‘’The accomplices often give the robbers advance payment before the vehicles are delivered to them. They have so far confessed to having received 10 stolen vehicles from the robbers.”

The JTF spokesman further said that the dealers were arrested when a search was conducted in their premises, during which three stolen vehicles including a Carina, Honda and VW Golf cars were recovered.  He said the six suspects had already been handed over to the police.
