Why I dumped PDP for ACN – Obadan

BY GABRIEL ENOGHOLASE

BENIN—FORMER deputy governor to Chief John Odigie-Oyegun in the aborted Third Republic, Reverend Peter Obadan, yesterday advanced reasons why he dumped Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.

He attributed alleged dictatorial tendencies within the leadership of the state chapter of the party as reason for his defection.

Reverend Obadan, who spoke with newsmen yesterday, said the party in the state was being run by selected cabals who undermine the collective interest of members of the party.

He said it would be disastrous for the PDP to continue with the July 14 election noting: “It’s unfortunate that the PDP has been so led to destruction.

“Those who have left the party, are doing so because of the manner the party structures have been hijacked by certain individuals. The fact is that the PDP in Edo State did not provide equal opportunity. It was not transparent, it had dictatorial tendencies while some persons were classified as lords over others.”
