UGHELLI – ARMED cultist, Tuesday night went on rampage in Ovwian, Udu Local Government Area, Delta state, kiled one , destroyed several cars and set a brothel in the area  ablaze.

The victim, who was identified as Mr Erite was trailed to a beer parlour on Jubilee road, Ovwian for yet unknown reasons at about 7:30pm by suspected cultists.

According to a dependable source, the suspected cultists unleashed terror on Mr Erite, using dangerous weapons ranging from clubs and cutlasses before he could utter a word.

Speaking to the Vanguard on condition of anonymity, a police source said the assailants bathed Mr Erite with acid after inflicting multiple cuts on him, leaving him dead.

He said; “the cultists left the butchered body of Mr. Erite and went to burn the residence and brothel of one Mr. Biggy at Owhase before escaping.”

In a reprisal attack, youths who were peeved by the alleged gruesome murder of Mr. Erite numbering hundreds thronged the streets of the community in search of the suspected killers of Erite, lamenting that several cars and other valuables were destroyed in the process.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Delta State Police Command, Mr. Charles Muka, said five suspects have been arrested, adding that the police was determined to unearth the circumstance that led to the death of Mr Erite.
