ABEOKUTA – No fewer than six persons have been nabbed by men of the Ogun State  Police Command, yesterday, for allegedly stealing  185 tyres worth N20 million  in Ishara, Remo North Local Government Area of the state.

This was disclosed by the  Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikemefunna Okoye, to newsmen  during the display of the tyres  at the Sagamu Divisional Police Headquarters.

Okoye stated  that the arrest of two suspects in  the  area on a motorbike led to the discovery of the items hidden in Ishara and the arrest of four other suspects.

Okoye, who  put the cost of the tyres at about N20 million, added that one Benjamen John,31, was arrested  for being the receiver of the alleged stolen tyres.

The two suspects  arrested in Sagamu  that led to the arrest of others and recovery of the alleged stolen tyres were identified as Musa Mohammed, 28 and Sunday Okolo,  25, while  Charles Mefuna, 27, Godwin Assan, 23 and Richard Garuba, 27, were arrested in various parts of the state in the course of investigation.

According to him, ”Our patrol team arrested two men on a bike and after searching, one locally- made pistol and some cartridges and laptops were recovered from them. “They confessed to have robbed a tyre-making factory in Lagos and took us to where they kept the tyres in Ishara.”
