Michael Akinyemi, a highly regarded software engineer and advocate for African tech inclusion, was celebrated at the 2025 Limitless Without Borders Awards for his outstanding contributions to technology and youth empowerment. Recognised for his leadership in innovation, mentorship, and digital access, he joins a global circle of professionals shaping the future of tech across continents.

The honour was conferred in June 2025 during the Limitless Without Borders Awards ceremony, a distinguished international gathering that spotlights changemakers whose work transforms lives and transcends borders. Michael was honoured for his consistent efforts in leveraging technology to create pathways for growth and opportunity, particularly through his initiative, CodeBridge.

“This moment is a reminder that we are seen, that our work matters, and that the impact we create locally can have a global ripple effect,” Michael said during his speech. “Being recognised among global leaders motivates me to keep showing up for the next generation of builders.”

With a strong background in backend engineering, cloud infrastructure, and system architecture, Michael has worked across major financial institutions in Africa and top tech firms in the United Kingdom. His contributions include revenue management platforms and scalable backend solutions that power real-world operations. Still, his most lasting impact may lie in his work outside of corporate spaces.

Through CodeBridge Youth, the nonprofit initiative he co-founded, Michael has helped hundreds of aspiring African developers gain access to hands-on training, mentorship, and career pathways. The initiative has grown into a vibrant support system that empowers young people to believe in their ideas and pursue meaningful tech careers.

“CodeBridge started as a dream to create access, and it’s grown into a pipeline of possibility for young African minds,” Michael said. “We’re not just teaching skills. We’re building confidence and helping young people see themselves as creators of solutions.”

Organisers of the Limitless Without Borders Awards highlighted Michael’s holistic approach to tech leadership, describing him as a builder who pairs technical excellence with human connection and community purpose. His story resonated deeply at this year’s ceremony, which celebrated leaders from more than 20 countries in fields such as education, health, entrepreneurship, and technology.

Looking ahead, Michael plans to expand CodeBridge across more African regions, launch new open-source tools designed for local challenges, and amplify the voices of underrepresented youth in global tech forums. His work continues to inspire a new generation of builders who see him not just as a mentor, but as proof that the impossible is within reach.
