Platform launches to connect Nigerian freelancers to global clients

Hamzry, a new freelance platform built exclusively for Nigerian digital professionals, has officially launched, connecting Nigerian freelancers to clients from across the globe. With over 1,800 freelancers already signed up, Hamzry aims to democratize access to online earning opportunities and position Nigerian talent within the global freelance economy.

Founded by longtime friends Nanle Joel and Prince Agala, both of whom began freelancing during their university years in Turkey, Hamzry was born out of the need to address structural challenges faced by Nigerian freelancers on foreign platforms like Upwork and Fiverr. The platform’s concept was developed in 2021 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when friends and peers of the co-founders began seeking remote work due to lockdown-related job losses.

“We realized a lot of Nigerian freelancers were late to the party on global platforms, hence the difficulty in getting noticed,” said Nanle Joel, Co-founder of Hamzry. “They are buried under thousands of listings, lack early reviews, and face payment barriers that make receiving funds difficult. Hamzry solves all of that by giving Nigerian talent their own marketplace and direct access to clients locally and internationally.” he added.

On Hamzry, freelancers can post services in categories such as: Writing, Graphic Design, Web & App Development, Voiceovers, Video Editing, Virtual Assistance, AI & Automation Services

Unlike foreign platforms that sometimes use payment processors like PayPal which isn’t available in Nigeria, Hamzry allows freelancers to receive payments directly into their Nigerian bank accounts, offering convenience, speed, and trust.

In addition to serving a global audience, Hamzry is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of Nigeria’s domestic business sector. With over 39.6 million MSMEs (micro, small, and medium enterprises) in Nigeria, many local entrepreneurs lack a reliable platform to hire professionals for design, writing, tech, and marketing services. Hamzry bridges this gap by offering a naira-based, easy-to-use solution for businesses of all sizes.

“Our vision is to empower local freelancers and serve the unmet demand from businesses within Nigeria and beyond,” said Prince Agala, Co-founder of Hamzry.

Hamzry aims to create over 100,000 jobs for Nigerians over the next three years and become a leader in Africa’s participation in the multi-trillion-dollar freelance economy.
