In what was being hailed as a historic and heartwarming event, the Faith Ehimwenma Foundation was set to unite two orphanage homes in Edo State for a first-of-its-kind Children’s Day celebration scheduled for May 27, 2025.
The foundation, under the leadership of its founder and humanitarian advocate, Faith Temitope-Babatunde, hosted the children of Sure Way Orphanage Home and Iwinosa Orphanage Home in Benin City in a joint celebration themed around love, unity, and shared childhood memories.
Speaking on the initiative, Temitope-Babatunde described the event as more than a celebration, calling it “a movement of love, identity, and unity.”
“We’re creating a day these children will never forget, reminding them that they are seen, valued, and deeply loved,” she said.
The event featured a variety of activities designed to foster bonding and joy among the children, including interactive games, music, food, entertainment, storytelling sessions, and the distribution of gift packages and school supplies.
Temitope-Babatunde, known for her longstanding commitment to community development, sickle cell awareness, and advocacy for women and children, says this is only the beginning of a new push for inclusion in society, starting with some of the most vulnerable members—orphans.
“We want this to set the tone for how we approach inclusiveness in our society,” she noted. “Every child deserves joy, connection, and unforgettable memories.”
The Faith Ehimwenma Foundation called on the media, corporate sponsors, and members of the public to support and be part of this historic celebration of unity and love.
Children’s Day in Nigeria is annually observed on May 27 and is dedicated to honouring the rights, welfare, and happiness of children across the nation. This year, thanks to the Foundation’s initiative, dozens of orphans in Benin City experienced the day in a way they never have before.
