Gov. Oborevwori
Now that the chickens have come home to roost, it is expedient to congratulate Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the good people of Delta State for taking a decision that would change the course of action for the overall development of the state
I, on behalf of the youths of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State had severally called on Nigerians to be patient with the President Bola Ahmed-led Federal Government as the government’s good policies will come to fruition in the near future. Many nay-sayers never believed us.
They termed us enemies of the masses, but today with the political earthquake sweeping across opposition parties in the country to APC we have been vindicated.
It is true that the nation is going through a turbulent period and that we are not where we are supposed to be but we should be grateful to God that President Tinubu took some bold steps to save Nigeria from total collapse. The removal of subsidy on petroleum products was one such bitter but bold steps that shook the foundation of the nation’s economy but today stability is gradually returning to the sector.
It could be reçalled that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has said that realignment of the PDP with the All Progressives Congress (APC) was a bold step towards enhanced collaboration with the Federal Government to deliver the dividends of democracy to Deltans.
Many never envisaged that Delta State, a stronghold of the PDP would defect to the APC in one full swoop but the leadership of the party, I believe, have sensed that it would be counter productive to continue swimming against the tide decided to join the winning team to put the state at an advantaged position.
We, the youths of Delta APC receive our new returnee family members to our great party. We also want to appreciate our party leaders such as the former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, Senators Peter Nwaoboshi, Ned Nwoko, Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, Victor Ochei, Chief Johnson Opone, Dr. Eugene Okolocha, and a host of others, who made sure that the party in the state remained a strong force to reckon with.
Without their efforts the party would have gone into extinction in the state.
In a situation like this, we advice that both incoming and old members of APC in Delta State need to work together as one big united family. There should be no discrimination of the new members by those of us that they met holding forth for the party neither should the new entrants lord it over the former simply because they belonged to the governor’s camp.
If such discrimination is allowed to thrive, then implosion would be imminent which will be an evil wind that will do no good to all Deltans.
We expect that with the collaboration of Delta State with the Federal Government, Deltans are in for good time as the governor can now freely liaise with the government at the centre to ensure that we fully enjoy the dividends of democracy.
As I give the new APC members a thunderous welcome to our fold, I want to use this medium to tell them to work assidiously to promote the progressive ideals of the party and ensure that we remain one united entity. It is only in being united that we can win the 2027general elections at both state and the federal levels.
In view of this new found love and victory, we appeal for the leadership of the APC in the state, ably led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to call for a meeting of the party faithful in the state to spell out who heads what and methods of working for the common good of the party in particular and the state in general. Through such meetings we can reach amicable agreement on the way forward for the party in the state
