BY BARTHOLOMEW MADUKWE
LAGOS— A Surulere Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, has sentenced a 28-year-old trader, Moses Goodboy, to three years imprisonment for stealing a Bajaj motorcycle worth N1000, without an option of a fine.

Delivering the judgment, Magistrate A.O. Soladoye said the gravity of the offence in which the accused threatened the complainant with a dagger to obtain the motorcycle warranted the sentence.

When the plea was taken, he pleaded guilty to a count charge of theft brought against him.

The accused who lives in Ilaje area of Ebute Metta, was said to have flagged down the Bajaj motorcycle with number plate QF164KJA, and asked the motorcycle operator to drop him at Ilaje, in Ebute Metta.

The Investigation Police Officer, IPO, Sgt. Evelyn Eguebor, who held brief for the prosecutor, told the court that the accused committed the offence in January at Ilaje village in Lagos.
