BENIN – Coalition of Progressive Political Parties, CPPP, in Edo State, weekend, adopted All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, as the party on which its governorship candidate, Chief Solomon Edebiri, will contest the July 14, governorship election in the state.

The Coalition is made up of ANPP, Citizens Popular Party, CPP; Labour Party; Peoples Progressive Party, PPP and four others.

After zeroing down on CPC and ANPP, members of the coalition, after an exhaustive deliberation, picked ANPP, after the governorship candidate, Edebiri, explained that the national leadership of ANPP had given its consent through a letter.

Though CPC leaders earlier insisted that the group should await its letter from the national secretariat before taking the decision, Edebiri said there was no need for that after he read a text message sent to him by the leadership of CPC in Abuja.

The decision to use ANPP was agreed upon by all members. In his acceptance speech, Edebiri commended members of the coalition for their dedication, but warned traditional rulers in the state to stay off politics and concentrate on how to find solution to the insecurity problems in their communities.
