A renowned educationist, and founder of Thomas Adewumi University,in Oko-Irese, Irepodun local government area of Kwara state,Dr Thomas Adewumi has said that Kwara South has reaffirmed its reputation as a hub for self-help initiatives and economic progress, stressing that the region’s commitment to unity, education, and development is undeniable.

Speaking with journalists recent event, Dr. Adewumi,also the founder of the popular Thomas Adewumi International School highlighted the industrious nature of Kwara South residents and their collective efforts toward community and economic advancement.

“In Kwara South, we are united about the economic development of our people. Our people are industrious, and Oro Kingdom has been at the forefront of self-help initiatives for decades. We prioritize those who are dedicated to developing our communities,” he said.

Reflecting on his three-decade-long contributions to education, Dr. Adewumi noted that his institution has been recognized as one of the best secondary schools in Nigeria.

“The propelling factor of my education program is to develop our people. Education is life. In the last three decades, I have dedicated myself to creating the best educational facilities in the state. The school has been recognized among the best secondary schools in Nigeria, with several awards to its name,” he stated.

Adewumi further stressed the importance of quality education as a tool for national development, saying “The best legacy to give anyone is education. The higher we educate Nigerians, the more we create graduates who can add value to the economic development of our nation. What we are doing is setting the pace for others to follow,”

He also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration for its equitable development agenda, adding that Kwara South is partnering with the state government to establish a tertiary health institution in the region.

“This government is doing well; it is people-focused. In the whole of Kwara State, tertiary hospital care has been centralized in Ilorin.

However, by the principle of equity and justice, Governor AbdulRahman is developing another tertiary institution in Kwara South. We are partnering with him to ensure the realization of that objective,” he disclosed.

Dr. Adewumi also reiterated Kwara South’s commitment to collaborating with Kwara Central and Kwara North, upholding the principles of equity, justice, and progress for the state.
