UGHELLI- SECRETARY to Delta State Government, Mr Ovuozorie Macaulay, has warned civil servants in the state to steer clear of partisan politics or face serious consequences.
Macaulay, who gave the warning while playing host to the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Delta State Council, said the state government will no longer tolerate a situation where civil servants take active part in the politics of the state by joining political parties.
Expressing worry that civil servants have abandoned their responsibilities for active politics and were no more committed and dedicated to their duties, he said some of them use their offices to castigate and destroy the government they are working for.
He advised civil servants, who are interested in politics to resign their appointments and form opposition groups to confront government instead of fighting under cover, saying that government was aware of their scheming, but decided to give those concerned ample opportunity to retrace their steps.
He called on the labour leaders to re-orientate civil servants in the state on their duties and functions in order to avoid unpleasant consequences that
