Jos – Parents have been called upon to give sound physical and spiritual upbringing to their children so they can become responsible citizens that would mould society in the future.

A Christian clergy, Samson Philbus, gave the charge when the Plateau Radio/Television Corporation, PRTVC Sharp Arrow, hosted children, including orphans from some orphanages in the State, at its annual children’s fair, where the kids engaged in the recitation of the Bible verses, dance competition, and other games.

Pastor Philbus, who spoke on the topic: “Parenting and what it takes,” asked parents to focus on training their children and exposing them to “things that will build them up to become better people in society and take interest in the Church they attend, the films and computer programme they watch, and the kind of neighbours they associate with…”

Also, the General Manager of PRTVC, Rita Pam, represented by the Station’s Director of Programme, Hudung Gyang noted that the PRTVC Sharp Arrow programme aims to improve children’s knowledge of the Bible per the Children’s Sunday School principles, and added, “As they learn the Bible, they know what God expects from them…”

The children’s programme, supported by the Plateau State Government, Heart Foundation, UK, Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA Headquarters Education Unit, and the Fellowship of Christian Students, FCS saw the children going home with diverse gifts as the three top winners in the Bible recitation competition each went home with a tablet as star prizes.
