..calls for truce

The lawmaker representing Benue South District and the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro has condemned the recent murder of fours persons of Ezza-Ezekuna origin in Azaoke, Ado Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue State by suspected armed men from Akparata community, in Ohaukwu LGA of Ebonyi State.

Senator Moro who decried the excalation of the communal crisis in the neighbouring state and its spillover to Ado LGA urged the feuding parties to sheathe their swords.

The lawmaker in a statement by his Media Adviser, Emmanuel John said the unending loss of lives and properties of the Ezzas and Effiumites in Ado LGA should be halted in the interest of peace.

Part of the statement read “Senator Moro decries the Ezza/Effium crisis in Ebonyi State that has spilled over to Ado LGA leading to continued loss of lives and properties of the Ezzas and Effiumites in the LGA.

“The latest is the recent attack where over four persons of Ezza-Ezekuna community were murdered in cold blood at Azaoke, in Ado LGA.

“Senator Moro condemns the unprovoked attack and calls on the Benue State Government to take urgent steps towards addressing the problem with a view to putting an end to the mindless killings.

“He also calls on security agents to be on their toes and forestall further attacks on his constituents so that they can go about their normal businesses without let or hindrances.

“The Minority Leader sympathizes with the families of those killed and assures that everything possible will be done to protect the lives and properties of the people.”
