A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Abayomi Mumuni, has observed that the pressing challenges facing Nigeria, from insecurity to economic instability, underscored the urgent need for visionary leaders.

Dr. Mumuni, after being bestowed with the 2024 Icon of the Year award by the Chartered Institute of Information and Strategy Management (CIISM), during a significant ceremony in Abuja, made the observation, highlighting the critical need for inclusive policies that address the diverse needs of Nigeria’s population.

He called upon the government to foster accountability and transparency, while promoting sustainable practices across sectors such as agriculture, energy, and industry.

The award recipient urged leaders to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship as key drivers for national growth.

Dr. Mumuni, a renowned security expert who served as the guest speaker at the event, where he addressed the theme: “Transformative Leadership for Sustainable National Growth: Strategies for Resilience and Development,” articulated the necessity for leaders who can inspire confidence and implement impactful reforms essential for Nigeria’s recovery and growth.

He, however, expressed gratitude for the award, noting that the recognition will motivate him to further contribute to the nation’s development.

“Receiving the ‘Icon of the Year’ award is a moment to be cherished forever. It represents not just my achievements but the support of my family, friends, and everyone who has been a part of my journey,” he remarked.

Mumuni emphasised that every step taken has been significant in shaping his path, asserting that with passion, determination, and resilience, anyone can make a difference.

Earlier in his remark, the Registrar of CIISM, Dr. Adelanke Oyintoke, congratulated Dr. Mumuni and the other awardees for their significant contributions to Nigeria and Africa.

He remarked on the importance of honouring individuals who exemplify integrity and professionalism in both the public and private sectors, stating, “This programme is special because it’s a time to celebrate men and women who have contributed to this great nation and Africa at large.”
