UMUAHIA – Stakeholders of the ruling Labour Party in Abia State, have lampooned the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for setting up a “shadow government” in the state.

The stakeholders drawn from the 17 Local Government Areas in the state, also passed a vote of confidence on Gov. Alex Otti, for his developmental strides which according to them, are visible.

According to the stakeholders who met at the Umuahia state secretariat of Labour Party, Otti has in less than two years, surpassed the achievements of many administrations before him.

The LP stakeholders accused PDP of engaging in unconstitutional acts in the name of opposition.

They wondered why the PDP which superintended over the affairs of the state for 20 years without any opposition forming “shadow government”, will be quick to resort to such unconstitutionality in less than two years out of power.

“They don’t know what they are doing. PDP has no morality to criticise the Otti administration which inherited huge debt and dilapidated infrastructure from it.”

LP Chairman in Abia, Hon Emmanuel Nweze Oti, along with other speakers at the meeting lauded Otti for his transformation agenda which according to them “has put Abia on the path of greatness”.

They said the state had never had it so well, and called on the opposition to criticize constructively instead of embarking on “bitter opposition for crashing out of power”.

The stakeholders who took turns to speak at the meeting, refuted insinuations that the Governor is overlooking the party members in his political appointments.

Dismissing the insinuations as “untenable and the antics of bitter opposition”, the Labour Party stakeholders said Otti had been given mandate to govern the entire state, and should not be restricted in his choice of appointees .

They applauded the Governor for putting competence above other sentiments in his appointments, and pledged the continued loyalty of the party leadership and membership to his Government.
