Nigerian Creatives in diaspora are Africa’s best ambassadors, says John Durojaye, the Cameraboss

The global community is increasingly recognising that creativity fuels both recognition and opportunity. Nigerian and African creatives stand out due to their relentless dedication to excel against all odds, despite coming from a continent that is less technologically developed than the Western world.

CAMERABOSS, a first-class graduate from Oduduwa University, spoke about what inspired him to explore storytelling through still and motion pictures. He shared that photos are memories preserved, capturing moments that continue to narrate stories decades or even centuries after the events.

Durojaye, an acclaimed photographer and the Creative Director of Cameraboss Multimedia in both Nigeria and the UK, said, “It’s crucial to acknowledge the tireless efforts of Nigerian creatives who work to elevate their industries, striving for equality with their global counterparts—even though they don’t all start on an even playing field. Western creatives have long had access to advanced technology and equipment, yet we are catching up, ensuring we’re not left behind in this creative race.”

An award-winning photographer and content creator, Cameraboss’s journey began in Ekiti State, Nigeria, where he honed his photography skills and developed a passion for visual storytelling. After relocating to Lagos, a bustling creative hub, he established himself in a more competitive environment, expanding his portfolio across diverse genres.

“Today, my work has gained international recognition, culminating in my Photographer of the Year win at The Creative Industry Awards 2024 in the UK. This prestigious achievement motivates me to inspire younger creatives: ‘If you can think it, you can do it.’”

Cameraboss offers a range of multimedia services, including photography, videography, and content creation. His unique blend of creativity and technical precision has made him a sought-after photographer for both personal and commercial projects, helping bring visions to life for brands and individuals.

His journey from Ekiti to Lagos, and now to international acclaim, showcases his dedication, innovation, and passion for his craft. As a creative professional, he continues to push boundaries, delivering impactful and meaningful work.
